On Tuesday, April 14, from 18.00 hrs., a combat readiness exercise started at thelevel of the 2nd 'Getica' Infantry Division in Buzau and the subordinatedstructures in Focsani, Galati and Braila garrisons. The exercise aims at assessingthe combat readiness and command and control for the deployment of forcesfrom the garrisons deployable at peace to Smardan firing range, Galati County,and the training of these structures in the frame of exercise 'Wind Spring 15'.

The alert exercise was initiated at the order of the Minister of National Defence,Mircea Dusa, whereas the assessment of the activity will be made with the chiefof General Staff, Lieutenant General Nicolae Ciuca.

The Multinational exercise 'Wind Spring 15' will be conducted in Smardan firingrange, Galati County and the Air Administrative Center Mihail Kogalniceanu(CAAMK), in Constanta County over April 16 to 30. It aims at training troops fromNATO and partners countries, jointly, in a unitary concept, so that they maintainthe operational capability of structures and meet specific NATO and EUinteroperability and standardization requirements.

The exercise involves over 2,200 armed troops and combat weapon systemsfrom the UK, Republic of Moldova, Romania and the USA, that will carry outoperational planning, combat shooting and will solve complex tactical situations.

'Wind Spring 15' is one of a series of joint training activities, conducted both athome and abroad, within 'Atlantic Resolve' Operation, representing theimplementation of reassurance measures adopted by the North-Atlantic Councilwith a view to maintaining regional stability and security, in the present securityenvironment on the eastern flank of NATO.
