European Air Transport Training 2015 Multinational Exercise

A detachment of the Romanian Air Force consisting of 22 soldiers, pilots, technical staff, engineers and planning specialists and a C-27J Spartan aircraft of the 90 Airlift Base participates in the European Air Transport Training 15 Multinational Exercise, in Portugal, over 15-26 June. The exercise is coordinated by EDA (European Defence Agency) and EATC (European Air Transport Command).

The exercise will be conducted at 11 Air Base from Beja with the participation of 550 troops from 11 European countries (Romania, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Great Britain, Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden) cu 15 C-130 Hercules, C-160 Transall, C-295 Casa, C-235, AWACS, P-3 Orion and C-27J Spartan airlift aircraft, F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter-bombers and EH-101 helicopters.

The main goal of the exercise is to practice and consolidate the techniques, tactics and procedures to execute airlift missions during daytime and at night, the short height flights, short flight strip landing, coordination of the air operations with the land forces' ones, crews' reaction to the ground-to-air and air-to-air threats as well as the exchange of experience on ensuring aircraft maintenance by multinational crews.
