Participation of Minister Mircea Dusa in the Meeting of NATO Defence Ministers in Brussels

Wednesday, June 24, the Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, participated in a working dinner, as part of the NATO defence ministers meeting, devoted to the strategic adaptation of the Alliance to the new security context ahead of the next summit meeting of NATO scheduled for the next year in Warsaw.
Aspects of the current security challenges and their implications for the Alliance were discussed in the context of reiterated commitment to implement the decision of the NATO summit meeting in Wales, as well as guidelines for the agenda of the future summit. In the presence Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the future developments of NATO/EU cooperation were discussed, with a view to consolidating projects of mutual interest by the organizations.'
In the morning of June 25, the defence ministers discussed, during the meeting of NATO — Ukraine Council, Ukraine's priorities to advance security and defence reforms as well as the country's recently passed national defence strategy.
The Minister of national defence, Mircea Dusa, reiterated Romania's support for Ukraine, stating that our country's position is firm when it comes to Ukraine's political independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders. At the same time, he voiced Romania's determination to make efforts to implement the draft project on Ukraine's cyber defence developed as part of the NATO Assistance Fund coordinated by Romania and to continue supporting OSCE mission in Ukraine and the reform of Ukraine's military education system.
