Meetings of the Defence Minister Dusa with the Albanian President Bujar Nishani and Deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi

The Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, met with the President of Albania Bujar Nishani and Deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi, on Tuesday, July 7.
During the two meetings, minister Dusa emphasized the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation in fields such as training and educating military and civil personnel or exchange of defence intelligence, thanking the Albanian side for their contribution to manning the multinational positions in the two NFIU structures established in Bucharest.
The Romanian official pointed out that our country continues to be actively involved in maintaining a stable security environment in the Western Balkans, by participating in operation Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the European Union as well as NATO mission in Kosovo (KFOR).

In the present security context it is vital for member states to increase their defence budget to be able to allott the necessary resources for the military capabilities we need, minister Mircea Dusa said during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Niko Peleshi.

During his meeting with President Nishani, the Romanian minister highlighted Romania's commitment to NATO mission in Afghanistan, Resolute Support, praizing Albania's contribution to the allied efforts there, both during the last and the ongoing one.

It is my belief that we cross a period marked by multiple security challenges, which is why we have to ensure that the regional security environment, especially our neighbouhood, is predictable and stable, the defence minister said at the end of his meeting with President of Albania.

The official visit in Tirana included talks with the Albanian defence minister, Ms. Mimi Kodheli.
