State Secretary for Defence Policy and Planning, Valeriu Nicut, makes an official visit in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, over 7 to 9 December.

An important topic on the Monday agenda was signing the Defence Cooperation Agreement between the the Government of Romania and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Agreement on the protection of military classified information between the two defence ministries.

Signing the two agreements is an important step in establishing the bilateral juridical framework and opens the way for the Romanian-Algerian military cooperation on projects of mutual interest, such as: modernizing military equipment, exchange of information, development of scientific and technologic research by implementing joint research and technological projects or training personnel in military education institutions.

The visit agenda included a meeting with the Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Defence, Major General Mohamed Zenakhri. On this occasion, the two officials saluted the renewed bilateral dialogue at the level of the defence ministries on the security situation in the extended Black Sea region and in the North of Africa.
