The Minister of National Defence Participates in NATO Defence Ministerial

The Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, participates in NATO Defence Ministerial to be held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 February 2016.

The agenda of the meeting focuses on the developments related to NATO adaptation to the new security environment, with a view to preparing the decisions to be adopted by the chiefs of states and governments at NATO Summit in Warsaw.

The defence ministers will adopt decisions meant to continue the processes of implementing NATO's Readiness Action Plan, adapting the allied defence and deterrance posture, countering hybrid and cyber threats, rendering operational the allied missile defence system, maintaining the commitment to the mission in Afghanistan and ensuring the defence budget.

On the second day of the meeting, NATO-Georgia Commission will take place, that will allow the identification of additional cooperation fields in the framework of the initiative for the Defence Capability Development, according to the decision adopted at Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers of December 2015.

During the reunion, the Romanian defence minister will have several bilateral consultations with General Philip M. Breedlove, Commander, U.S. European Command and counterparts from allied nations.
