I am deeply saddened by the death and injury of innocent people during the terrorist attacks in Brussels, today. I send my message of condolence to the grieving families and I have promptly sent a message of compassion and solidarity to my Belgian counterpart, Defence Minister Steven Vandeput.

I strongly believe that we have to continue our coordinated and firm efforts against the terrorism that plagues European values and the lives of all people, regardless of nationality or beliefs.
