The Day of Open Gates at the Ministry of National Defence

The headquarters of the Ministry of National Defence will be open to the public from 08.30 to 13.00, on Sunday, April 3, to mark the celebration of NATO Day. The public will have the opportunity to watch a military ceremony, at 09.00 hrs., dedicated to Romania's joining NATO.

During the Day of Open Gates, visitors will be able to see a drill carried out by the 30th 'Mihai Viteazul' Guard Regiment, an outdoor exhibition of military equipment, other thematic exhibitions.

Steaua Military Sports Club and the Military Publishing House will be present with displays, but stands with military weapons and devices will also be organized. Films with military themes will be played in the assembly hall of the defence ministry.

On March 29, 2004, Romania officially joined NATO, by depositing the ratification instruments at the State Department of the USA, the depositary state of the North-Atlantic Treaty.
On April 2, 2004, a ceremony was organized to mark the official hoisting of the Romanian flag at NATO HQ.

As stipulated by Law 390 of September 28, 2004, NATO Day is celebrated in Romania on the first Sunday of April. NATO Day is a public celebration dedicated to democracy and the European and Euro-Atlantic spirit.
