On Monday, April 4, the Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, received H.E. Hamid Moayyer, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Bucharest.

The delegations discussed the stage and perspectives of bilateral relations and the developments of the regional and international security context, focusing on the Middle East, Syria and the migrants crisis.

The defence minister stressed that the end of international sanctions and the declaration of the Implementation Day at the beginning of this year create auspicious conditions for resuming Romanian-Iranian bilateral cooperation in fields of mutual interest.

As to Syria, both parties stressed the importance of enforcing the ceasefire agreement and increasing the efforts to identify a political solution to the existing crisis.
