The Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, received Vice Amiral James G. Foggo, Commander 6th Fleet, Deputy Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe, at the defence ministry.

The two officials analyzed the stage in implementing projects of the European Reassurance Initiative of the USA, the maritime reassurance measures and the allied priorities in light of NATO Summit in Warsaw, especially augmenting allied presence on the Eastern flank.

In this context, minister Motoc talked of the importance of including the Black Sea region in this allied project meant to enhance security in the eastern part of the Euro-Atlantic space, as part of the general process of strengthening the defence and deterrance posture of the Alliance in the new security context.
