On April 18 and 19, the Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, will participate in the meeting of the Steering Committee of the European Defence Agency and the Foreign Affairs Council in defence ministers format held in Luxembourg.

The discussions will be held from the perspective of EU Global Strategy, the progress registered in implementing the initiative to Consolidate the capacities supporting security and development and for countering hybrid threats. A special session will be organized for the analysis of the present stage and perspectives of EU involvement in Afghanistan. NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, will be present at the meeting.

The meeting will also include a session dedicated to the security situation in Libya that will bring together EU defence ministers and ministers of foreign affairs.


During the meeting, the Romanian defence minister will have consultations with his counterparts from Poland, Bulgaria, Greece and Great Britain.
