Activities dedicated to War Veterans' Day

On Thursday, April 28th, the Ministry of National Defence organizes military and religious ceremonies dedicated to the Day of War Veterans in all largest garrisons of the country and at the commemorative monuments from the Czech Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, Slovakia and Hungary.


The commemorative activity in Bucharest will take place at 09.00, at the Homeland Heroes' Monument, located in front of Carol I National Defence University, in the presence of the minister of national defence, Mihnea Motoc.

The activities dedicated to the Day of War Veterans are also scheduled to continue in May.

Thus, George Enescu Philharmonic and the National Opera Houses from Cluj- Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara will dedicate their performances to the war veterans of World War II. The symphonic orchestra of 'George Enescu' Philharmonic directed by Christian Badea, having Ekaterina Mecetina as soloist, will hold the concert on May 5th, starting from 19.00, with the following music agenda: Piotr Ilici Ceaikovski - Concert no. 1 for piano and orchestra, and Serghei Prokofiev - Symphony no. 5. The Romanian National Opera House from Cluj-Napoca will dedicate to war veterans Swan Lake, by Piotr Ilici Ceaikovski, which is scheduled to take place on May 6th, at 18.30; Iasi Opera House will deliver Don Quijote, by Ludwig Minkus on May 8th, at 18.30 whereas the Romanian National Opera House from Timisoara will hold its performance for veterans- Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto-on May 25th, starting from 19.00 .

Veterans of World War II as well as veterans who participated in missions from the theaters of operations from Afghanistan, Iraq and the Western Balkans will be invited to attend these concerts.


VeteRUN - Cupa Steaua Marathon, which will take place on May 8th, at 11.00, in Herastrau Park area, is one of the many activities dedicated to The Day of War Veterans.
