Minister Mihnea Motoc's Meeting with General (R) James L. Jones

The Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc received General (R) James L. Jones, president of Brent Scowcroft Centre on International Security/ Atlantic Council United States, at the defence ministry, Wednesday, May 25. General (R) James L. Jones is also the former United States National Security Advisor and he served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

The agenda included discussions on the security developments in the Black Sea region and possible ways of cooperation between Romania and the Atlantic Council United States (ACUS) on topics of mutual interest.

They had meaningful exchanges of ideas on the geopolitical realities of the region and the developments and perspectives they generate at transatlantic level. The Romanian defence minister emphasized the essential role of the USA for the consolidation of our country's security and the Eastern flank of the Alliance.

The two delegations agreed that the cooperation between ACUS and Romania could play an important role in the development of specific projects related to create and develop strategies of evaluation and strengthening of regional security, with focus on the developments in the Black Sea region.

While at the defence ministry, General (R) James L. Jones had a meeting with the chief of General Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca.
