The Day of Distinguished Visitors - Exercise STEADFAST COBALT 2016

The Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, and the chief of General Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca, participated on June 1, in the Day of the Distinguished Visitors of exercise Steadfast Cobalt 2016 (SFCT16). This the largest and most complex NATO exercise conducted in the recent history and hosted by Romania, which was meant to test the interoperability of the communication and information systems (CIS).

The two officials were welcomed by Major General Walter Huhn, commander of NCISG - NATO Communication and Information Systems Group. Together they visited the working areas of the military experts and talked to soldiers from different NATO countries, when they were briefed on the equipment used during the exercise.

Over 1000 Soldiers from 30 NATO units participate in NATO exercise Steadfast Cobalt 2016 (SFCT16), conducted at the 48th Communications and Strategic Information Centre in Bucharest, from 22 May to 3 June.

SFCT16 is one of the certification exercises of NATO CIS military units, meant to test and evaluate the interoperability of the communication and information systems (CIS) of NATO deployable components during a major collective defence joint operation in Eastern Europe.
