ROMANIAN AIR FORCES AT BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW 2016

From 09.00 hrs., on Saturday, July 30, the International Airport Bucuresti - Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu will host the 8th edition of the biggest air event to take place in Romania, Bucharest International Air Show (BIAS).Internal Affairs and the Air Forces of Ukraine.

The Romanian Air Force, as co-organizer of the event along other institutions in the industry from across the country, will be represented by MiG-21 LanceR aircraft that will make demonstrative flights, from solo flights that outline pilots' and aircraft's performance to tactical and air policing exercises that highlight the tactical training. The Romanian pilots willfly IAR-330 Puma and IAR-316 Alouette helicopters, C-27J Spartan and An-30 airlift aircraft, IAR-99 Soim and the training aircraft, IAK-52.

The still display will include MiG-21 LanceR, IAR-99 Soim, IAR-330 Puma, C-27J Spartan, a low/medium range radar TPS-79R and a HAWK ground-to-air launching system. An information point will be organized with the educational offer of the Ministry of National Defence.

As a premiere, the Romanian Air Forces invited, at this year's edition of BIAS, troops from the Air Forces of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Spain, the USA and Ukraine, to participate with displays as well demonstration flights. Two F-15 Eagle aircraft of the US National Guard will be on still display, along a Su-27 aircraft of the Ukraine Air Forces. The latter could be watched during air demonstrations along aircraft such as the Spanish EF-18M Hornet and JAS-39C Gripen and L-159 ALCA of the Czech Air Forces. The still display will include Greek Mirage 2000, Bulgarian Su-25, Ukraine An-26 and C-130 of the Alabama Air National Guard.

The largest aircraft of this year's still display will be a NATO Boeing E-3A Sentry AWACS. AWACS aircraft are part of the NATO's early warning system being equipped with a radar that can surveille the airspace over a 31,000 km2 . The E-3A component consisting of AWACSaircraft is manned with multinational personnel, Romanian included.

This year's edition of BIAS is dedicated to the anniversary of 110 years since the first flight performed by Traian Vuia and 100 years since the establishment of the Romanian fighter aviation.

On Thursday, July 28, the Aurel Vlaicu International Airport Bucuresti- Baneasa will host the official training of the troops and aircraft belonging to the Romanian Air Forces, the Aviation Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Air Forces of Ukraine.Press Department
