Deputy Undersecretary for Defense Industries of Turkey Visits Romania

During his visit in Romania, Celal Sami Tufekci, Deputy Undersecretary for Defense Industries of Turkey was received by the Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc.

The talks focused on topics related to the security situation in the region and bilateral cooperation in technical and military field.

The delegations analyzed the developments of the regional security environment in terms of the urgency to implement the major political decisions taken by the chiefs of state and government at NATO Summit in Warsaw, that include important measures for the south-eastern region of the allied eastern flank.

In this respect, the Romanian official stressed the importance of the cooperation between the two countires with a view to implementing, in a credible and efficient manner, of the decisions concerning the Tailored Forward Allied Presence in the region, along its three components, land, air and naval. Again, it was reiterated the importance of taking further specific initiatives in the field, with a view to NATO defence ministerial at the end of October this year.

As far as the technical and military cooperation is concerned, the two officials reviewed the ongoing common equipment and armament procurement programs and the premises to expand this kind of cooperation.
