ACT Commander Visits Romania

The Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, received ACT Commander, General Denis Mercier, at the defence ministry, on Wednesday, September 21, during the latter's official visit in Romania.

The two dignitaries discussed the stage of implementing the measures adopted by the chiefs of state and government at NATO Summit in Warsaw and the contribution of ACT to the process of development of the allied military capabilities. Minister Motoc mentioned his appreciation for the NATO official's endorsement of the projects promoted by our country within the Alliance.

On the same day, General Mercier had a meeting with the chief of the General Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca, who briefed him on the priorities of the Romanian military in the near future, the developments in the security situation of the Black Sea region and the participation of the Romanian troops in NATO missions. The two officials also discussed joint multinational training, with a view to increasing interoperability among military structures of member and partner states.
