Romanian Soldiers Wounded in Afghanistan

Four soldiers of the Rechinii Albi Force Protection Battalion were wounded around 10.30, on Sunday, September 25, after the explosion of an improvised explosive device, while on a patrol mission in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

After securing the area, the soldiers were given first aid and then were evacuated to the military hospital in Kandahar Air Base.

Second Lieutenant Florin Oprea, Sergeant Eduard-Vlad Romila, Corporal Marcel Neagu and Private Costica-Victor Tarnovschi are in a stable condition, under care at the base hospital. The battalion leadership made sure the soldiers could keep in touch with their families.

The defence minister and the chief of General Staff are regularly updated on the situation of the four men. All measures were taken to ensure the best treatement and medical care of the four wounded soldiers.
