Meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussels, October 26-27

Minister Mihnea Motoc will participate in the meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence, at NATO HQ in Brussels, over October 26 to 27.

The meeting is the first event of the allies at political level, after the Summit in Warsaw, and is dedicated to analyzing the stage of implementing the decisions made at the Summit, and stating the political guidance with a view to the timely implementation of specific NATO projects and initiatives.

Main topics on the agenda are: strengthening the allied defence and deterrence posture with focus on the enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) and the tailored Forward Presence (tFP), projecting stability beyond NATO borders and improving relations with the EU, as well as concrete ways of implementing the Common NATO-EU Declaration signed in Warsaw.

The meeting is a good opportunity to stress the importance Romania gives to implementing the tailored Forward Presence (tFP) in Romania and in the Black Sea and to present the national steps made towards accomplishing the components in land and training terms for the tFP. Particularly, the allies will find out about the multinational brigade to be established in Romania and the specific initiatives in maritime and air field.

Beside the reunion, the defence minister will have several bilateral meetings with counterparts from allied countries, with a view to coordinating positions on the topics on NATO agenda and to improve bilatesal cooperation in the field.
