Activities dedicated to the celebration of First World War Centenary, at Targu-Jiu

On Friday, October 28, two commemorative activities will be organized in the Heroes' Cemetery and the Park of the Endless Column as part of the celebration of First World War Centenary.

During the ceremony held at the Heroes' Cemetery, at 11.00, the participants will attend a short poetic moment offered by a student and a wreath laying ceremonial at the roadside crucifix from the cemetery. Almost 150 children will lay wreaths on the crucifixes of the heroes buried here.

As part of the activity organized in the Park of the Endless Column that will begin at 12.30, a military historian will present the battles of Targu-Jiu from the First World War, will hold a speech with regard to the significance of Calea Eroilor Monumental Ensemble sculpted by Constantin Brancusi, and a group of children will lay wreaths at the bottom of the Endless Column.

At the end of the activity, the Representative Music of the Ministry of National Defence will offer a short music concert.

Representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Romanian Government, the Ministry of National Defence and representatives of the local public authorities, war veterans, active and retired military personnel and students of the secondary schools and high-schools from Targu-Jiu will attend the activities scheduled to take place on Friday.
