The Minister of National Defence, Mihnea Motoc, will participate in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Defence Ministers Format and in the meeting of the Steering Committee of the European Defence Agency in mixed format, along the foreign affairs ministers, that will be held in Brussels, on November 14 and 15.

The discussions will revolve around the topics high on the European agenda in terms of security and defence, on the background of the security challenges the EU is facing and the implementation of the EU Global Strategy and drafting the EU Action Plan on defence. The Foreign Affairs Council will offer additional guidelines on the EU-NATO Joint Declaration and will take into discussion the future of the ongoing operations and missions of the Common Security and Defence Policy.

While in Brussels, the Romanian defence minister will also participate, along the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lazar Comanescu, in meetings with their French counterparts, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Jean-Marc Ayrault, respectively.
