Iasi-The Capital of National Renascence

Representatives of the Ministry of National Defence will participate in the activities put together with the title Iasi, The Capital of National Renascence, which will take place over 14-16 December, in Iasi.

The activities mark 100 years since this city became a war capital, the Government and Parliament of the country being located here between 1916 and 1918.

On Wednesday, December 14, at 12.30, soldiers of 15 Podul Inalt Mechanized Brigade will ensure the Honor Guard at the military and religious ceremony which will take place at the Monument of War World II Romanian Heroes built in the military sector of Eternitatea Cemetery, whereas a MoND delegation headed by state secretary Otilia Sava will lay a wreath.

Also, a festive gathering of the Romanian Academy will also take place in Mihai Eminescu Auditorium of Al. I. Cuza University.

On Thursday, December 15, commemorative plaques carved with the names of the buildings which hosted representative institutions of the Romanian State through 1916-1918 will be unveiled. The visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the inauguration of the exhibition BNR during the Great War and see the documentary entitled Iasi, a War Capital City.

On Friday, December 16, the Association Military Tradition will make a demonstration in Unirii Square, the photographic exhibition Personalities of the Great War will be inaugurated and the unveiling of certain commemorative plaques will continue, one of them marking the former residence of King Ferdinand I from 1917-1918 (currently entitled the Museum of the Union).

Also, on Friday, the Royal Train will arrive in Iasi Railway Station and will be open for visitation to the public whereas the photographic exhibition Romanian Railways during First World War will be organized within the precincts of the railway station.
