The Extended Invictus Team Romania, Ready for the First Cantonment

The extended Invictus Team Romania that will participate in the Invictus Games Toronto 2017 will be introduced during an event organized at the Sports Hall 'Mihai Viteazul' of the Sports Club CSA Steaua Bucuresti, at 14.30 hrs., on Tuesday, February 14, in the attendance of the Minister of national Defence, Gabriel-Beniamin Les and the chief of General Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca.

The 33 sportsmen selected to participate in the first training cantonment, over February 15 to 24, will be handed over their IDs as sportsmen of the Sports Club CSA Steaua Bucuresti and their first set of equipment funded by the Charity Association of the Romanian Armed Forces CAMARAZII.

The special competition equipment, adapted as required by the medical condition of each soldier, will be aquired gradually, with funds provided by CSA Steaua and the partners of the project.

The team will train for several disciplines, adapted for people with disabilities, namely, paralympic athletics, simulator rowing, cycling, powerlifting, archery, swimming and sitting volleyball.

The present stage of Invictus Team Romania 2017 and the calendar of the activities will be presented as they will unfold until the participation in the competition in Canada, to take place over September 22 to 30.

Invictus Team Romania 2017 project is a unique opportunity to show what true combat spirit, team cohesion and human solidarity mean as values defining the veterans of the theaters of operations.

The initiative is intended to support physical and psychological recovery through sport and to increase the awareness of the Romanian people of the problems injured soldiers and their families face.

All injured soldiers are encouraged to participate in the project, irrespective of the diability, and also their families that can be by their side during training, as well as competitions.

As a project of national representation, Invictus Team Romania 2017 intends to implicate and to earn the support of the citizens, GOs or NGOs or other institutions willing to contribute, voluntarily, to the success of the initiative.

Journalists intending to participate in the event are expected at the entrance of the Sports Hall 'Mihai Viteazul' of CSA Steaua Bucuresti, in 5-7 Blvd. Vasile Milea.
