General Nicolae Ciuca, the chief of General Staff, makes a working visit in the United States, over February 19 to 25.

During his visit, General Ciuca will have a meeting with General Joseph F. Dunford Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staffs and will participate in a symposium of the Special Operations Forces, organized by the Global Special Operations Forces Foundation.

The meeting with his US counterpart is a good opportunity to develop the Romanian-American Strategic Partnership on defence; the agenda includes topics related to the importance of the Black Sea for the European and international security, Romania's position and role as a security provider, the US commitment to ensure the security of the eastern flank of the Alliance. The delegations will also discuss Romanian-American cooperation in the theaters of operations, the Romanian Armed Forces modernization programs and identifying ways of assistance in this respect.

During the symposium, the chief of General Staff will participate in the talks about adapting special forces to the new security challenges and will also deliver a presentation onTransforming Special Operations Forces Romanian Army's strategic priority.
