Defence Minister's Meeting with the Ambassador of Bulgaria

The Minister of National Defence, Gabriel Les, received the Ambassador of Bulagaria to Bucharest, H.E. Todor Churov at the defence ministry, on Tuesday, March 7.

The meeting that was requested by the Bulgarian side was a good opportunity to take further the dialogue on topics of mutual interest, focused mainly on the cooperation relations within NATO and EU and enhancing defence cooperation.

On this occasion, the Romanian defence minister offered his congratulation message for the celebration of the National Day of Bulgaria on March 3 and stressed the importance Romania gives to intensifying political and military bilateral relations.
The two officials expressed their interest for coordinated actions to consolidate NATO presence in the region, for enhancing NATO's defence and deterrence posture and the involvement of the armed forces of the two countries in multinational exercises and other practical sessions of common training at ground, air and maritime level.

They also noted the progress of the cooperation between the allied command and control structures in Romania and Bulgaria the Multinational Division South-East in Bucharest and Sofia, also the mutual contributions to manning and rendering them operational.

They also agreed on continuing bilateral consultations through direct contacts at ministry level and through their respective representation structures at NATO HQ and at the EU, with a view to implementing important projects on the agenda of bilateral cooperation on defence.
