Ceremony at the Deployment to Poland

A ceremony marking the six-month deployment of the Air Defence Detachment to Poland will be organized at the headquarters of the 205th Air Defence Battalion General Gheorghe Parvulescu in Craiova, at 10.30 hrs., on Wednesday, March 15.

The detachment is part of NATO Combat Group under US command meant to ensure the forward, consolidated presence in the north-east part of the Alliance in order to deter possible aggressions, in line with the measures taken at NATO Summit in Warsaw.

The ceremony will be attended by officials from the Ministry of National Defence, representatives of the local authorities and soldiers' families.

Journalists interested to take part in the activity are expected at the headquarters of the 205th Air Defence Battalion General Gheorghe Parvulescu in Craiova, 221 Nicolae Romanescu BLVD., starting with 10.00 hrs.

The 120-strong Air Defence Detachment consisting of Land Forces troops and OERLIKON 35 mm. air-defence guns is based on a battery structure of the 205th Air Defence Battalion General Gheorghe Parvulescu of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Rovine in Craiova.

As part of Romania's land component contribution to the initiatives concerning the allied tailored presence on the eastern flank as decided at NATO Summit in Warsaw, the 2nd Infantry Brigade Rovine represents the framework for rendering operational the Multinational Brigade built around the Multinational Division in Bucharest. Its initial operational capacity is to be reached in April 2017, while the final one was set for late 2018.
