The Defence Minister Meets the Ambassador of Poland to Bucharest

The Minister of National Defence, Gabriel Les, received the visit of the Polish Ambassador to Bucharest, H.E. Marcin Wilczek, on Friday, March 17.

The talks focused on military bilateral cooperation within the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Poland, the implementation of the Warsaw Summit decisions and coordinating the actions in regional cooperation formats.

The two delegations spoke of the commitment of making maximum use of the Strategic Partnership framework in order to intensify relations in the field of defence by participating in multinational exercises and other force training activities as well as in the fields of air force and ballistic missile defence.

The two officials emphasized the importance of coordinating the efforts in order to ensure NATO's enhanced forwarded presence on the entire eastern flank of the Alliance, as a main component of the deterrence and defence of NATO. In this respect, they discussed specific elements related with the coordination of their respective contributions with military units and staff personnel to render operational the Multinational Brigade in Craiova and the Battle Group under US command in Poland.

They also discussed about the official visit of the Polish defence minister in Romania that will take place in spring this year.
