Secretary of State Mircea Dusa Meets NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Patrick Turner

The Secretary of State for Defence Policy and Planning, Mircea Dusa, met with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Patrick Turner, at the defence ministry, on Tuesday, March 28.

The topics of discussion included the developments of the international security environment but also the priorities on the agenda of the Alliance.

Mircea Dusa stressed that the 2 percent of the GDP allotted to defence in 2017 ensure the predictibility of the modernization policy of the armed forces, also that Romania observes the commitments made to the Alliance. Our country is strongly committed to implementing the decisions made at Warsaw Summit and the defence ministers' meeting of February.

The Romanian official emphasized the importance of a unified approach to the measures to consolidate the entire eastern flank and Romania's commitment to participate in the Bttle Group in Poland under US command. The state secretary also talked of the progress made in establishing the Multinational Brigade in Craiova.

Patrick Turner said Romania is an important ally determined to implement the security commitments made at national level or in allied context, as shown by the 2 percent of the GDP allotted to defence in 2017.

In this context, the NATO official pointed out that through the role and measures assumed at the level of the regional security, Romania can be considered a stability pillar at the Black Sea.
