Exercise PLATINUM EAGLE-17.2

The Romanian Armed Forces represented by 200 soldiers from the 9th Mechanized Brigade Marasesti of Land Forces and the 307th Marines Battalion of the Navy participate in the training module PLATINUM EAGLE 17.2, within multinational exercise BLACK SEA ROTATIONAL FORCE 17 (BSRF 17), at the Secondary Training Center in Babadag, Tulcea County, over April 24 and May 4.

The Romanian soldiers will train together with over 400 troops from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Montenegro, Ukraine and the USA. The training includes live ammunition shooting, first aid maneuvers in combat areas and exercising command and control procedures at unit level.

PLATINUM EAGLE 17.2 aims at enhancing interoperability among the troops participating in the exercise, maintaining the deployment and joint training capability and developing a favourable regional environment to multinational military cooperation.

The Black Sea Rotational Force 17 is an annual drill led by US Marine Forces Command deployed in Europe and Africa, being held in the Black Sea, in the Balkans and the Caucasus region. It is meant to increase the level of interoperability by trainng soldiers jointly for the participation in peacekeeping and counter-insurgency operations.
