Arrival of the British Detachment to Mihail Kogalniceanu

The ceremony marking the arrival of the British detachment at Mihail Kogalniceanu air base for Air Police missions will take place at 18.00 hrs., on April 28.

Four Typhoon aircraft of the British Royal Air Forces landed at Mihail Kogalniceanu air base, on Monday, April 24. The British detachment made up of nearly 150 troops (pilots and technical staff) will be conducting Air Police missions aboard Typhoon aircraft, jointly with MiG-21 and LanceR aircraft and troops of the Romanian Air Force, over May 1 to August 31.

Journalists interested in participating are requested to send the identification and contact details by Thursday, April 27, 11.00 hrs..

They are expected to arrive at Mihail Kogalniceanu air base on Thursday, April 27, between 16.30 and 17.30 hrs.

The Air Police missions conducted in common will contribute to the development of the response and deterrence capacity and to enhancing interoperability between Romanian and British Air Force.

The deployment of RAF aircraft in Romania is part of implementing the Action Plan to ensure the operational capacity of NATO on the eastern flank of the Alliance, both to the North and the South, proving NATO's unity and determination as a response to the challenges of the security environment.
