Mircea Dusa, the State Secretary for Defence Policy and Planning met with the Lebanese Defence Minister, Yacoub Sarraf, on Thursday, May 4. The meeting took place during the official visit of a Romanian military delegation in the Lebanese Republic, over May 2 to 4.

During the talks, Mircea Dusa emphasized that Romania values the real potential of the military relations with the Lebanese Republic, which could be realized both by enhancing the high-level political and military dialogue and by conducting practical activities of training forces.

During the visit, the two delegations agreed on the final form of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Lebanese Republic. The document will be the foundation of the future bilateral relations and will open new cooperation opportunities in this respect.

The two officials agreed on the possible fields of cooperation and also discussed about modernization programs of the Lebanese military equipment. Some of these programs may well involve the cooperation of Romanian companies of the defence industry.
