General Nicolae Ciuca, the chief of General Staff, had a meeting with H.E. Francois Saint-Paul, the Ambassador of France to Bucharest, at the defence ministry, on Friday, May 19.

The two officials talked about the present status and the perspectives of consolidating the Strategic Partnership between Romania and France, especially the military aspects, in the context of the recent developments generated by the complex security challenges NATO and EU member states and the steps made to consolidate the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).

Also, they discussed the security situation at regional, European and global level and the cooperation between Romanian and French troops during NATO and EU-led missions.

General Nicolae Ciuca emphasized Romania's endeavours to enhance the eastern flank of NATO and its contribution to CSDP, as well as the efforts made at national level to transform and modernize the military.
