Ceremony in Memory of the Romanian WW1 Heroes Buried in France

Secretary of State Nicolae Nasta, the chief of the Department for Parliament Liaison and Public Information, will participate, over June 3 and 4, in the official ceremony for the commemoration of the Romanian WW1 heroes who died as prisoners and are buried in the heroes' cemetery in Soultzmatt, Alsace region.

The Guard of Honor will be ensured by a detachment of 32 soldiers of the 30th Mihai Viteazul Brigade.

During the event, the Soultzmatt municipality will organize documentary exhibitions on the Great War and the Romanian soldiers who were prisoners in Soultzmatt as well a scientific symposium on the subject, with the participation of Romanian and French specialists.

During WW1, over 2,300 Romanian soldiers died on the current territory of France, 687 of which are buried in the cemetery of Soultzmatt.
