Exercise Saber Guardian 2017, Ready to Start

Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17), the greatest exercise conducted in the region is ready to start. About 25,000 service members from 22 allied and partner nations will take part multinational exercise Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17), conducted by U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) in Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, over July 11 to 20, 2017.

SG17 will start with activities relating Romanian and US soldiers with the local authorities, over July 11 to 14, in the garissons on the routes to the firing ranges and deployment areas. They come from the 2nd U.S. Cavalry Regiment and the Multinational Brigade South-East of Craiova and the 2nd Mountain Brigade of Brasov. The troops will organize displays of military equipment and military ceremonies in Arad and Sinaia (July 11), Ploiesti (July 12), Sibiu (July 13) and Ramnicu Valcea and Slobozia (July 14).

SG17 is conducted in over 20 firing ranges and deployment areas of Romania, the Black Sea region included. Following are the training events associated with Saber Guardian 17 that are available for media coverage:

18 international exercises will take place in the Black Sea region, that will bring together about 40,000 servicemen. SG17 is the largest and most complex of them. Together they are meant to show the superiority of the joint and multinational capabilities of the U.S.A., the allied and partner nations and to highlight their cohesion, unity and solidarity in defending against any possible agression.
