Media Opportunities at Cincu during Saber Guardian 2017

The Distinguished Visitors Day of Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise (GS17), part of Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17), will take place at Getica Center for Joint National Training in Cincu (CJNTC), on Saturday, July 15.

About 5,000 troops from six nations, with 650 combat systems and 30 aircraft will make a dynamic demonstration during a combined arms live fire exercise that will include aviation and artillery fire in support of land armoured units defending the area against an aggression.

The structures involved in the exercise come from USAREUR, namely the 1st Cavalry/Artillery Division, the 3rd Armoured Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division but also from the Romanian Land Forces, namely the Command of the 2nd GeticaInfantry Division, the 8th Alexandru Ioan Cuza LAROM Brigade and the 282nd Unirea Principatelor Mechanized Brigade.

At the end of the activity a ceremony is organized to mark rendering operational the command of the Multinational Brigade South-East (MN BDE-SE), that is coordinated by the Multinational Division South-East Headquarters (MND-SE HQ), as one of the measures taken after NATO Summit in Warsaw, to enhance the allied forward presence on the Southern segment of the Eastern flank of the Alliance.

The journalists accredited for this exercise through the accreditation procedure mentioned in the press release on the media events associated to SG17 (Press Release No. 176 of June 23) are expected at Cincu JNTC, between 08.30-09.30 hrs., on Saturday, July 15. The journalists not yet accredited can still do it by 16.00 hrs., on Thursday, July 13, by sending identification details at: relatii.publice@forter.ro.

Other media opportunities:

• Media representatives who are interested in attending can stay and watch the ceremony for the command hand over/take over of the of the 3rd US Armored Brigade of the 4th US Infantry Division. It is for the first time that an American brigade changes its command while deployed in Romania, during Operation Atlantic Resolve.

• On Friday, July 14, also in Cincu, journalists can attend the DVDay of the engineers exercise Resolute Castle 17. The exercise presents finished or ongoing military construction works. Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17), the greatest exercise conducted in the region is ready to start. About 25,000 service members from 22 allied and partner nations will take part multinational exercise Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17), conducted by U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) in Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, over July 11 to 20, 2017.
