Virtual Air-Defence Simulation at Mihail Kogalniceanu

The Distinguished Visitors' Day of exercise TOBRUQ LEGACY 2017 (TL17) will take place at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Constanta County, on Saturday, July 22, at 11.00 hrs., when participants can watch a sequence of virtual air-defence simulation.

The journalists accredited to this event through the accreditation procedure mentioned in the press release on the media events associated to SG17 (Press Release No. 176 of June 23) are expected at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base between 10.00 and 10.30 hrs., on Saturday, July 22. The journalists not yet accredited can still do it by 12.00 hrs., on Friday, July 21, by sending identification details at: fhuzum@roaf.ro.

TL17 is an air-defence exercise in support of exercise Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17) that takes place over 12 to 22 July, being conducted simultaneoulsy in three countries, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Romania, involving about 1,600 troops.
TL17 shows the interoperability among multiple air-defence structures in Europa, contributing to the consolidation of the deterrence efforts of NATO.

About 1,000 troops from 16 NATO member countries, 250 of which are Romanian, participate in the air-defence exercise TL17, that takes place at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base and the Training Camp and Shooting Range in Capu Midia.

TL17 is an air-defence exercise in support of exercise Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17).

Saber Guardian 2017 (SG17), the greatest exercise conducted in the region, involves about 25,000 service members from 22 allied and partner nations.

The exercised is led by U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) in Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary.
