Military Ceremony at Marasti

The Minister of National Defence, Adrian Țutuianu, participates in the military and religious ceremony organized at the Mausoleum of Romanian Heroes at Marasti, Vrancea County, at 18.00 hrs., on Thursday, July 20.

The activity is part of the WW 1 Centenary initiative, as 2017 is The Year of Marasti, Marasesti, Oituz - 100, when the defence ministry organizes symbolic cultural and artistic events.

The Mausoleum at Marasti was built on the place where the Romanian and German military fought. In the basement of the monument there are crypts that contain the remains of 5,396 Romanian, Russian and German WW 1 heroes.

The National Office for Heroes' Memory organizes, on behalf of the Ministry of National Defence, military and religious ceremonies dedicated to the WW 1 heroes as follows:
• Mausoleum of Romanian Heroes at Soveja, Vrancea County, at 12.00 hrs., on Friday;
• Heroes Mausoleum at Focsani at 11.00 hrs., on Sunday, August 6 and the Mausoleum of Romanian Heroes at Marasti, Vrancea County, at 18.00 hrs.;
• The Honorary Cemetery of the Romanian and Foreign Heroes at Oituz, Bacau County, at 10.00 hrs., on Saturday, August 19;
• The Memorial of Heroine Ecaterina Teodoroiu at Muncelu, Vrancea County, at 11.00 hrs., on Tuesday, August 22. The Ministry of National Defence invites citizens to participate in the commemoration activities of WW 1 heroes.
