A C-27J Spartan Aircraft to Put Out Fire

A C-27J Spartan aircraft, equipped to put out fire, took off from the 90th Airlift Base, at about 16.00 hrs., on Sunday, August 6, to assist in a mission to put out fires started in the woods, that presented the risk to spread quickly, in the area of Svinita, Mehedinti County.

It is the first real mission of this type carried out by Romanian pilots.

The intervention was planned at the request of the Department for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The crew consists of Commander Florin Ianculescu - pilot and crew chief and WOs Maftei Țebrean, Gabriel Stancu andi George Baltescu - loadmasters.

The C-27J Spartan aircraft can carry 6,000 liters of water (six containers) with each crossing.
