Visit of the Defence Minister Adrian THutuianu to Military Units in Constanta County

Minister Adrian Țutuianu will participate in the certification ceremony of the Royal Canadian Air Force deployed at the Air Base in Mihail Kogalniceanu.

The defence minister will also visit military units in the county, among which the fleet Command, the Military Hospital, the 39th Diving Center, Mircea cel Batran Navy Academy, the Marines Battalion of Babadag, where he will discuss with servicemen and commanders about their current and future activities and the support requirements they might have of the defence ministry.

Four CF-188 Hornet aircraft of the Royal Canadian Air Force arrived at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, on Sunday, August 20, where they will participate in Air Police missions under NATO command and will take over the responsibility from the Royal British Air Force.

The Canadian detachment, Air Task Force Romania, consists of about 135 servicemen (pilots and technical staff) and CF-188 Hornet aircraft and will carry out Air Police missions along MiG-21 LanceR aircraft and Romanian Air Force, over the next four months.

The missions conducted jointly with the Romanian pilots will contribute to the development of the response and deterrence capacity and to the interoperability between the Romanian and Canadian Air Force.
