Romanian-Spanish Meeting at the Ministry of National Defence

On Friday, September 1st, the Minister of National Defence, Adrian THutuianu, received the visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Romania, H.E. Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller.

The defence minister thanked the Spanish ambassador for the contribution with staff personnel in the effort to render operational the Multinational Brigade in Romania, stressing the important role played by the Spanish partners in implementing the decisions made at NATO Summit in Warsaw, in ensuring a deterrence and defence posture along the eastern flank of the Alliance. In this context, they talked of the increasing level of the bilateral military cooperation.

The agenda included exchange of opinions on the defence budget, technical and military cooperation, the regional security context, cooperation within NATO, the fight against terrorism, Romania's participation in peacekeeping operations and cooperation within the EU.

The delegations discussed the importance of continuing and enhancing practical cooperation between the two military, by developing the exercises organized in bilateral and multinational format.
