Servicemen of the 228th Air Defence Battalion Leave for a Mission in Poland

The ceremony for the departure of the Air Defence Detachment for a mission in Poland will take place at the headquarters of the 228th Piatra Craiului Air Defence Battalion from Brasov, at 11.00 hrs., on Thursday, September 14.

The 120 troops and 35 mm anti-aircraft Oerlikon guns will be deployed to Poland from September 2017 to March 2018 and will be part of US-led NATO Battle Group, with the mission to ensure the forward enhanced presence to the North-East of the Alliance in a rotation system so that to deter any possible aggressions, in agreement with the measures adopted at NATO Summit in Warsaw.

The troops from Brasov will replace the one of the 205th General Gheorghe Parvulescu Battalion from Craiova, now at the end of their six-month mission.

Journalistst interested in participating in the ceremony are expected at the headquarters of the 228th Piatra Craiului Air Defence Battalion (42 Calea Feldioarei Road) from 10.30 to 10.45 hrs., on Thursday, September 14.
