The Minister of National Defence Mihai Fifor, together with President Klaus Iohannis, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the chief of General Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca made a visit to the Multinational Brigade South-East in Craiova, on Monday, October 9th.

As part of the visit, Minister Fifor and the chief of General Staff had a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The talks focused mainly on the defence and deterrence posture of NATO on the eastern flank, and the main topics on the agenda of the next NATO Summit.

Minister Mihai Fifor talked of the progress made in implementing the decisions made on ensuring the tailored forward position to the South of the eastern flank of the Alliance and highlighted the developments of the land, air and maritime component. He also stressed the importance of continuing this process taking into account the security situation in the Black Sea region.

As to the next year's NATO Summit, the officials exchanged views on the priorities of the Alliance, with a view to ensuring the security and stability of the entire EuroAtlantic space.
