The meeting of the Minister of National Defence with the Ambassador of Hungary to Bucharest

Defence minister Mihai Fifor met with the Ambassador of Hungary to Bucharest, Botond Zakonyi.

The meeting agenda included topics referring to bilateral cooperation at regional level between the two armed forces, the defence budget, the regional security situation and the cooperation within NATO and European Union.

The two officials emphasized the efficient bilateral cooperation between the two states materialized in the conduct of common activities within the Mixed Romanian-Hungarian Battalion and the Multinational Engineer Battalion TISA, pointing out the importance of developing cooperation in this field with a view of providing for the interoperability between the two armed forces.

Also, the interest for enhancing cooperation between Romania and Hungary in the field of defence was reiterated taking into account the fact that the two states are essential players in managing the challenges posed to the regional stability. Moreover, the officials discussed ways of collaboration in order to prepare the activities celebrating 100 years since the Great Union.
