The Chief of Defence at the Meeting of NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Format

A delegation of the Romanian Defence Staff headed by General Nicolae Ciuca participates in the meeting of NATO Military Committee in Brussels in Chiefs of Defence Format, over 16th and 17th January.

The meeting agenda includes military topics such as security challenges along the southern flank of NATO and the allied contributions to its stabilization, the path to be taken related to Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, NATO's role in giving assistance in reforming the security sector in Iraq and training the Iraqi security forces in 2018. They will also discuss the propositions to adapt NATO's command structure, military recommendations and their harmonization with those made by the North-Atlantic Council.

The Military Committee meets twice a year at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, at the level of Chiefs of Defence to discuss NATO operations and missions and provide guidelines to the North-Atlantic Council in terms of the best ways the Alliance can meet the global security challenges.
