The Minister of National Defence, Mihai Fifor, had a meeting with the Canadian Ambassador to Bucharest, H.E. Kevin Hamilton, at the defence ministry, on Wednesday, January 31st.

The talks agenda focused on developing defence cooperation and the good auspices for developing further the military relations at bilateral level and within NATO initiatives. In this respect, minister Mihai Fifor thanked for the substantial contribution of Canada to the allied initiatives on Romanian territory and in the Black Sea region, also for the Canadian soldiers' participation in the multinational exercises meant to increase interoperability.

An important topic on the talks agenda was enhancing military cooperation in the field of military medicine, research and psychological assistance, including the improvement of the research system, of the risk management, of diagnosis and treatment of post-traumatic induced diseases.

In this respect, the defence minister said the Romanian side is interested in establishing a National Center of Operational Psychology and a future cooperation in the field with the Canadian side.

A delegation of the defence ministry will soon make a visit to Canada for an experience exchange in the field.
