The commander of the US Army Europe, visiting the General Staff

The Chief of the General Staff, General Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, received the visit of the commanding general of the US Army Europe, Lieutenant General Christopher Cavoli, on February 23th, at the General Staff headquarters.

During the visit, the discussions were held on the activities to be carried out jointly by the Romanian Land Forces troops and the US Army in Europe in 2018, both in Romania and in the training centers of USAREUR.

General Ciuca thanked Lieutenant General Cavoli for the support given by USAREUR to the Romanian Armed Forces. 'The cooperation between the United States Army in Europe and the Romanian Armed Forces has materialized in the recent years in many activities that have increased the interoperability and trust between the two armies.' The US support for continuing the reform process, the Euro-Atlantic integration steps of our country and the promotion of Romania as a factor of stability and security in Southeastern Europe have been and remain essential. The relationship between USAREUR and the Romanian Land Forces must remain a very close one in order to contribute together to the European and international security , General Ciuca said at the end of the visit.

'During my first visit to Romania, I thanked General Nicolae Ciuca and his team for their leadership role within NATO and I sent our commitment to continuing the close partnership between our countries. Being a key ally in the Black Sea region, Romania's demonstrative actions with the US Army Europe's one enhance the interoperability and directly support the combat capability. Romania remains an unwavering ally and a good host for our soldiers. We look forward to continuing develop the already very strong relationship,' said General Cavoli.

The support provided by USAREUR to the Romanian Armed Forces is a substantial one both in Afghanistan's theater of operations and in pre-deployment training field, logistic field and, last but not least, in the establishment of MND SE HQ, NFIU Romania and HQ BDE.

The program of Lieutenant General Christopher Cavoli in our country includes visiting the military base of Mihail Kogalniceanu.
