Multinational Exercise DACIAN LANCER 18

DACIAN LANCER 18 (DALR18) conducted at Getica National Joint Force Training Centre in Cincu, Brasov County, over 12 to 23 March 2018.

DALR18 is a computer-assisted command exercise for the evaluation of the Multinational Division Southeast (HQ MND-SE) in Bucharest regarding the achievement of the Final Operational capability. The assesment is carried out by experts from the Allied Land Command (LANDCOM, Izmir, Turkey) and supervised by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE, Mons, Belgium).

The Romanian Armed Forces participate in the exercise with about 500 servicemen from the Land Forces, the 2nd Infantry Division, Getica National Joint Force Training Centre, the 282nd Mechanized Brigade, the 10th Engineer Brigade, the 2nd Mountain Brigade, the 8th LAROM Brigade, the 71st Air Base, the 2nd Logistics Base, the 528th ISR Regiment, the 52nd Mixed Artillery Regiment, the 50th Air Defence Regiment, the PsyOps Center, the 265th Military Police Battalion, the 307th Marines Battalion, the 88th River Patrol Boat Squadron, the 1st CIMIC Battalion and the 202nd CBRN Defence Battalion.

The foreign troops participating in the exercise belong to the Joint Force Command Naples, Italy, LANDCOM Izmir, Turkey, NATO Rapid Reaction Corps from Greece, Italy and Turkey, the 1st Infantry Division, Canada, Multinational Division Northeast, Elbląg, Poland, HUMINT NATO Center of Excellence, Oradea, Multinational Division Southeast Craiova, Romania, the 2nd Mechanized Brigade, Bulgaria and NATO Communications and Information Agency, Belgium.

The Headquarters Multinational Division Southeast is a NATO military body under the operational command of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe. It exercises the command and control of Art. 5 type of NATO operations collective defence along the south-eastern flank of the Alliance, to ensure the security of territories and populations of member states.

The command was activited on December 1st, 2015, which represented its official integration into NATO Force Structure, as a result of implementing the Readines Action Plan, established at the Wales Summit, in 2014.

On July 1st, 2016, during a ceremony at the command headquarters, the Initial Capacity of the HQ MND-SE was certified.

Officers, warrant officers and NCOs of the 15 contributing countries man the multinational command, coming from - Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italya, Great Britain, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, the USA, Turkey, Hungary and Romania as host-nation.
