Defence Minister's Meeting with the Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency

On Monday, September 3rd, Defence Minister Mihai Fifor, together with State Secretary Mircea Dusa and Chief of Defence Nicolae Ciuca had a meeting with the Chief Executive the European Defence Agency (EDA), Jorge Domecq, who was on official visit to Romania.

The main topic of discussions was enhancing dialogue with EDA, in the context of Romania's efforts made in order to take over and exert the EU Council Chairmanship.

We appreciate the fact that you are in Romania today, in such an important period for us the preparation to take over EU Council Chairmanship. It is a role that generates additional responsibilities for our country and, at the same time, provides opportunities for the promotion of certain priorities of EDA's lines of actions, minister Mihai Fifor stated.

Also, the two officials exchanged ideas on the decisions taken in the recent EU Informal Meeting of Defence Minsisters in Vienna, on the main areas of interest- Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD), Capability Development Plan (CDP), defence research and the efforts made by the Support Commission of the Defence Capability Development Processes.

Also, European Defence Industrial Development Program (EDIDP), the European Defence Fund (EDF), military mobility, NATO-UE relations , Romania's priorities while holding EU Council's Chairmanship in the field of Common Security and Defence Policy, as well as the activities organized in cooperation with EDA in this context were some of the topics listed on the meeting agenda.
