During his official visit to the Unites States of America, defence minister Mihai Fifor had a series of meetings with the representatives of Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Raytheon and Lockeed Martin companies, at their headquarters, in Washington D.C.

The Romanian official was accompanied by State Secretary for Armaments, Andrei Ignat and by the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca.

The talks with the representatives of the American companies mainly focused on the ways of cooperation in the field of defence industry.

On this occasion, minister Fifor reiterated the Romanian Government's intention that all national strategic acquisition programs involve cooperation, technological transfer and the know-how of the national defence industry.

Also, minister Mihai Fifor specified that, in the context of the allocation of 2% of the GDP to the defence budget for a 10-year period, starting with 2017, Romania initiated an acquisition program that can increase its national defence capabilities, which, at the same time, contribute to the consolidation of our country status as a credible and solid partner in the Black Sea region.
