As part of his official visit to the USA, defence minister Mihai Fifor met with the Governor of Alabama State, Kay Ivey, at the Alabama State Capitol, Montgomery Alabama- the capital city of the American state on Thursday, September 27th.

The meeting was also attended by the Commander of the Alabama National Guard, Major General Sheryl Gordon.

The official talks focused on the excellent cooperation between the Romanian Armed Forces and the Alabama National Guard, this year marking Alabama and Romania's 25th year of partnership in the State Partnership Program.

On this occasion, minister Fifor thanked for the support offered by the Alabama National Guard to the Romanian Armed Forces during the joint training, exercises and activities as well as in rendering the F-16 aircraft operational. In this respect, the officials emphasized the opportunity to consolidate this cooperation by affiliating a support company of the Alabama National Guard to the Headquarters Multinational Brigade South-East, from Craiova.

Minister Mihai Fifor reiterated the invitation addressed to the Governor and the Commander of Alabama National Guard in participating in the manifestations organized to celebrate 100 years since the Great Union, on the occasion of the 1st December 2018 Parade.
